In year 8 students continue with their learning from the History course. They study 'Medieval Europe' in term one which connects directly with the first topic of term two; 'The Black Death in Asia, Europe and Africa'. With the changes that began to take shape in the 14th century students look beyond Europe and investigate 'The Polynesian Expansion across the Pacific'.
Within these topics students develop their critical and creative thinking skills and the concept of continuity and change. A link is made between how environmental changes can alter human history, but also how human settlements and beliefs can negatively impact the natural environment.
Semester two provides the means for students to explore in depth the significance of water and the interconnections that form between people, places and spaces across a range of scales.
Assessments
Each term will have at least one assessment task and the assessment schedule will be provided to students at the begining of each semester.
