The school library aims to provide a safe and welcoming environment that supports the educational needs of students and staff. The library offers expertise and services aimed to encourage students to become lifelong readers and learners.
Our Librarian teaches Library skills to all Year 7 students and has timetabled classes. The Librarian also used technology in these lessons and works with students on their online research skills, presentation soft wear skills and how to locate information.

Library services
There are a range of library services available to students that encourages independent learning. The library staff will offer assistance in locating books and other information to students needing homework or assignment help. The library continously updates the display cabinet, featuring new released books, important school events and featured authors.
Information literacy skills are also taught by the Teacher Librarian during fortnightly lessons offered to Year 7 students.
Borrowing
Students may borrow 1 fiction and 1 non fiction book for up to two weeks.
Computers, printing and photocopy
- 26 computers with internet access are available for educational use during recess and lunch.
- Printing of assignments is free.
- Photocopying is available for $0.20 per A4 page.
Library activities
Chifley Reading Challenge
The Chifley Reading Challenge is open to all students and involves reading and recording the details of books borrowed and read from the library.
Reading Cafe
The Reading Cafe meets every Tuesday lunch for students who enjoy reading and discussing books.
Drawing
Manga and cartoon drawing equipment are available upon request during recess and lunch.
