The learning of HSIE in year commences with a glimpse over the diverse biomes that exist across the planet and the processes and practices that sustain us and them.
Term two focuses more on the human environment and the features and characteristics of places and spaces that cause people to move.
History in year 9 explores the making of the modern world with an in-depth look into the 'Movement of Peoples' that stem from the significant revolutions and imperial expansions of Europe.
In term four students develop greater knowledge and understanding about the cause and effects from World War I and II. This 'Australians at War' topic provides an opportunity for students to build a wider perspective on the causes of war and a greater appreciation for the ability to analyse historical sources for bias and propaganda.
Assessments
Each term will have at least one assessment task and the assessment schedule will be provided to students at the begining of each semester.
