Work experience

Work experience is an important part of our career education program.

The experience our students gain during their time with willing employers often plays a critical role in the decision making process as they plan their progress from school to work.

Workplace learning enables students to:

  • be actively involved in gaining first-hand knowledge of the world of work
  • gain generic and industry specific work competencies
  • better manage the transition from school to further education and training and to their working life in the community.

In the past, students have chosen a variety of placements, such as vet clinics, hairdressers, car dealerships, real estate agents, local councils, photographers, computer repairers, primary schools, child care centres, mechanics, physiotherapists, sports centres, restaurants, wildlife parks, a range of retail outlets and more.

Reports from supervisors have been overwhelmingly positive and many students are offered further employment each year.

Work experience is available to year 10 students throughout the year. See Miss Hooke for all relevant paperwork and information.

Please don't hesitate to contact Miss Hooke with any questions.
